Denpasar, January 25, 2025 — The English Language Education Study Program of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar successfully hosted a two-day international academic and cultural collaboration on January 23–24, 2025, in partnership with Taylor University (USA) and Handong Global University (South Korea).

Carrying the theme "Strengthening Partnership through Exchange and Exploration of Culture, Language, and Knowledge between Indonesia and Korea", the event brought together students and lecturers from the three institutions in a dynamic blend of scholarly engagement, intercultural celebration, and pedagogical exploration.

The event was officially opened with a warm welcoming address by Dr. I Komang Budiarta, S.Pd., M.Hum., M.Pd., the Third Vice Rector of Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar, representing the Rector. In his remarks, he expressed his strong support for international collaboration in higher education:

“This program reflects our shared commitment to building global perspectives through academic and cultural exchange. By working together with our partners from the United States and South Korea, we are not only expanding our academic horizons but also nurturing respect, empathy, and global citizenship among our students and faculty. I hope this collaboration will pave the way for long-term partnerships and meaningful innovation in education.”

One of the highlights of the program was a seminar titled "Actively Developing Language in the English Classroom: Actively Developing Language through Corrective Interaction and Feedback." Delivered by experts: Dr. Jan Dormer and Dr. Megan Beard, from the participating universities, the session offered insights into effective language teaching strategies with a focus on interactive methodologies and responsive feedback to enhance students’ teaching competence. And a student of ELESP of FKIP Unmas Denapasar (I Gusti Agung Dwitya Maheswari Candra)  also presented an insight of “Teaching in the Bali Context”

The spirit of cultural appreciation was brought to life through a vibrant cultural exchange session, where participants showcased traditional Balinese dances alongside American dance, promoting cross-cultural understanding and mutual respect.

To further solidify the partnership, a Teaching Collaboration session enabled joint microteaching activities and team-based lesson planning among the universities’ lecturers and students. This session fostered collaborative learning and encouraged the implementation of innovative teaching methods which is implemented in some schools under The Foundation of Perguruan Rakyat Saraswati Pusat Denpasar.

The Head of the English Language Education Study Program Unmas Denpasar, Nengah Dwi Handayani, S.Pd., M.Pd. in her closing remarks, expressed deep appreciation for the active participation of all attendees and emphasized the importance of continued international engagement to enrich academic quality and global-mindedness among future educators.
